CHRIST LUTHERAN

From the Issue:
July/August 2011
Christ Lutheran Church in Troy invites anyone and everyone who does not have a church-home to come to a new kind of worship gathering on Saturday evenings beginning July 9, 2011, at 7 PM.  This will be an informal kind of worship which we pray will develop out of the needs and interests of those who come.  Initially the focus will be about “Family” -   the “WHY” of worship – the “What will it do for me and my family?” -  the “Why should I care? - my life is fine without religion!”

We will meet in the fellowship hall of Christ Lutheran Church where the large windows let us see the fenced in play area where the children can play while the grown-ups talk.  Coffee will be served – bring your soft drink or water if you like, but come…2,  20 or any number in between.  Our world is so full of stress and problems and yet there can be a peace and a comfort for us and that same peace and comfort can spill over and improve our family lives.  There can be more to life than work, money, some fun, and death.

PRAYER AT THE GAZEBO

From the Issue:
June 2011
The prophet Jeremiah, revered by Christians, Jews and Muslims, when writing to his people who had been exiled to the distant city of Babylon, told them that God wanted them to settle down, build homes, marry, raise their children and become part of the community they found themselves in, proclaiming these words of God “Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile.  Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”  Jeremiah 29:7
Believing these words can apply to our Town, we invite citizens of Troy to meet us on the first Friday of June, June 3rd, at 7 PM at the Gazebo on the Troy Common, to join in simple citizen led prayer for God’s blessing on Troy and its people.

CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH

From the Issue:
June 2011
Christ Lutheran Church in Troy is making plans for the summer.  Many special things will be happening.  On June 12, which is the Sunday of Pentecost, we will celebrate the confirmation of Caleb Brosseau, son of Katie and Mark Brosseau of East Sullivan, NH.  Then, on June 19 our New England District President, Rev. James Keurulainen will lead us in worship.  Also, June 19 will be the first Sunday of our summer schedule.  Worship will be held at 9:30 AM and there will be no Sunday school or Bible studies on Sunday mornings until after Labor Day.

A new opportunity for worship will be offered on Saturday nights beginning July 9 at 7 PM.  These services will be more informal in nature and will continue until Labor Day week-end (September 3).  One purpose is to offer an alternative worship time for "summer" busy families.  The public is invited to 'come and see' what we are all about.  We also want to offer to people an additional time to worship and to do so in a little different style.  The topics or themes will be different than our regular Sunday worship.
