TROY AMBULANCE

From the Issue:
July/August 2010
This month we want to talk about a standard procedure that all EMS workers are following at the scene of an accident when they come across your cell phone. Everyone has names and numbers stored in their mobile phones, but nobody other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family and friends. If you were involved in an accident, the EMS personnel would have your cell phone but wouldn't know who to call. Hence ICE (In Case of Emergency) campaign began.

The way to do this is simply to enter the word ICE after the contact name of the person you would like notified in the event of an accident or emergency.  If you have more than one person you want notified, simply enter the name, then ICE1, ICE2, etc.  This is a great idea that will make a difference.  Remember that ICE can speak for you when you are not able to.

Meadowood's annual Auction is approaching in August.  If you have a new or in good condition item to donate for the Auction please contact a MCAFD firefighter or stop by the station on Sundays from 9 AM to Noon.

There has been a change in phone numbers at MCAFD fire department.  Effective immediately the regular telephone number is 603-242-3018.  The fax number is 603-242-3061. The telephone line for the Assembly Hall has been disconnected.

TROY AMBULANCE

From the Issue:
May 2010
We are posting some things this month to help keep you, your family/friend and the ambulance personnel safe. Please take these into consideration should you ever need the ambulance. We never want to see anyone hurt.

One of the questions the ambulance driver or an attendant may ask you as a family member or friend of a sick or injured person is whether you’re going to be following the ambulance to the hospital. If your answer is "following the ambulance to the hospital," we will tell you several things.

Do not follow us too closely! If you can’t see both our side mirrors, you are too close! This is for your own safety as well as our patient’s and ours. There are several reasons for this:

If we should happen to stop quickly, we don’t want you crashing into us.

If we should happen to swerve due to an obstacle, you may not be able to see it in time.

Often times when a vehicle pulls over to the right to allow us to pass, they don’t notice the vehicle following the ambulance and have a tendency to try to pull right back out nearly causing an accident.

MEADOWOOD FIRE

From the Issue:
May 2010
The Meadowood County Area Fire Department proudly announces the arrival of our new rescue truck. In February the department put into service a 1993 Freightliner which once belonged to the Keene Fire Department. The new truck replaces our 1982 Mack. Since its arrival to MCAFD, the new truck has responded to motor vehicle accidents and a house fire.
May 15th and 16th is our annual Spring Fire School. Firefighters from around the county will be coming to the training center to take classes.

TROY AMBULANCE

From the Issue:
April 2010
The members of the ambulance have been very busy responding to calls lately.  We are happy to welcome our newest members Dewey DaSilva and Terri Fredette.  Dewey and Terri have been observing with us and we are happy to have new additions to our squad.  We also have a couple of pending applications and we look forward to welcoming more new faces and having our squad grow even more.  If you are interested in joining the ambulance please ask any of our members to get you an application.
Spring is coming and we are happy to finally put winter behind us.  Even though spring is coming, we are not out of the flu season quite yet.  So please remember to wash your hands often and if you or your children show any flu symptoms please stay home from work and school until symptoms are gone.
We would like to thank everyone for their cooperation this winter with keeping driveways and walkways plowed and shoveled.  It makes our job easier should you need to call us and it keeps everyone involved safe, so thank you again.  Wishing everyone a very happy Easter from all your friends at the Troy Ambulance!
