No one is happier than we are to see warm weather on the horizon.  The students are making the best of the snow piles and joking that they might still be here on the last day of school.  Third quarter is about over, and we are headed into the home stretch.

Fundraising efforts are continuing for the Hillary Nettleton memorial.  The faculty, staff and students of Troy School, along with her family plan to honor her with a granite bench and garden by the flagpole, and with a reading corner in the library that contains a rocking chair and mural painted by one of her family members.  If you would like to contribute to this cause, please send your donations to Troy School, 44 School Street, Troy, NH 03465.  Please make sure to note what it is for, and we thank you for your kindness and generosity.

Mr. Parkman’s, Ms. Linn’s and Ms. Markowski’s classes will present the music show “Gotta Be Jazz” on Monday, April 4th at 7 PM.  There will be a dress rehearsal at 2 PM, and both events are open to the public.  If you attend the afternoon show, please be sure to check in at the office.

It's hard to believe but graduation is less than 90 days away.  We are raising funds for the Monadnock Class of 2011 to go on a moonlight dinner cruise.  Project Graduation is about providing a safe and alternative program for the graduates to do that night of Graduation.  We have had numerous fundraisers and will continue to do so until June 2011.  We will also provide some prizes for the graduates to win during the Moonlight Dinner cruise.  They will be departing from Boston.  It is about a 4 hour cruise and we leave around 11:30 PM and return to shore around 3:00 to 3:30 AM.

The sounds of birds chirping and children playing outdoors indicate that our long winter is now in the past.  The preschool students are talking about the budding trees, baby animals, weather changes, new growth, and other signs of spring. It is a delightful time of year to be an exploring, inquisitive child of God.  The students will learn about Jesus' ride into Jerusalem on the very first Palm Sunday.  The preschool students will sing songs of praise on Sunday, April 17th, during the l0 AM worship at Christ Lutheran Church. Following the service, the children will enjoy an Easter Egg Hunt.

The Empty Tomb will be revealed as the true Easter message of New Life.  Other Easter crafts and activities will be enjoyed at preschool.  The students continue to learn many age-appropriate readiness concepts along with art and rhythm.  There is also time for free, guided play.  To encourage the joy of reading, story time is a regular event both at home and school.  The housekeeping, dress-up, and block building areas keep the children's' imaginations active.

Spring is in the air!  A topic of discussion this month is our weather and its many varieties.  Will this month be windy or rainy?  Perhaps the snow may still be present.     Animals are a favorite children's topic and this month will feature a sharing time regarding dinosaurs.  The students have learned that God wants us to be nice and loving to our friends and family.  In keeping with this theme, the children will be recognized when they display random acts of kindness.  Readiness skills are learned and hands-on, age appropriate activities occur daily.

National Lutheran Schools Week will be observed March 6-12.  Tender Shepherd Preschool is among the 2700 Lutheran Early Childhood Centers, Elementary, and Lutheran High Schools throughout our nation.  At Tender Shepherd, the students plan to celebrate by enjoying Spirit Week.  Some fun, dress-up days are scheduled.  The children will also participate in the Family Worship at 10AM at Christ Lutheran Church on Sunday, March 13th.
