The students have planted flowers in the playground "Friendship Garden." Such beauty from God's creation! They also made muffins for their Moms and family members to enjoy.  Their visit to East Hill Farm was the highlight of their study of farm animals.

The preschool year ends with the closing program on Thursday morning, June 3.  The students will sing and receive recognition for a wonderful school year.  Following the program, the children will be entertained by Miss Kay, who presents a delightful "Merry Music for Kids" program.  She engages the kids with her lively songs, rhythm movements, balloons and more.  Refreshments follow.

Enrollments are being accepted for the fall 2010-2011 school year.  Interested parents and children are invited to attend the OPEN HOUSE slated for Tuesday, June 8, from 9 - 11 AM. and 5 - 7 PM.  Choose the option which best suits your schedule.  You may view the preschool, meet the staff, and ask questions.  Two-day and three-day sessions are offered to children, ages three and four.  A 5-day program is pending.  Early registration is recommended.

While our students have been very busy this year, learning and growing, excitement is in the air as the last few weeks of school wind down and we get ready for summer vacation. We’d like to thank all of our parents for their support this year, and want to remind you that learning doesn’t end just because school is over. Please encourage your child to read over the summer, and find ways to practice their math skills.

On Tuesday June 1st Troy School will host the annual District Band Day.  Band students from all over the district will come to Troy School to practice and play together, ending with a concert at 7 PM.  On Monday, June 7th, Author/Illustrator Marty Kelley will be coming to share his stories and drawings with our students.  Marty is from NH, and is the author of books such as “Fall Is Not Easy”, “Summer Stinks!” and “The Messiest Desk.”

Spring has arrived and the students will be celebrating it with discussions about butterflies and gardening.  The children will also visit the animals at East Hill Farm and take a walk to our town library.  Our backyard playground is also a popular activity site.  A special Kids' Fun Week is being planned and we may even diagram a dinosaur!  To encourage reading, the students have been challenged to read with their parents.  As a result, "The Reading Tree" continues to grow!  To honor their efforts, the students will be rewarded with an ice cream party.

The school year is winding down and we look ahead to our fall programs.  Our morning classes are open to all 3 and 4 year old children from the surrounding area.  We offer 2-day and 3-day options, with a 5-day pending.  You may call to arrange a visit at preschool or to ask questions at 242-SAVE(7283). Enrollment forms for the 2010-2011 school year are available.

Tender Shepherd Preschool is sponsored by Christ Lutheran Church.  Our preschool has been serving area families since 1985.  "Lutheran Schools - a great place to grow."

I would like to thank everyone who voted for me to serve for another year on the School Board.  I really appreciate all of the votes and encouragement.  And congratulations to Dick Thackston on becoming our new board chair for the coming year.  Together we will continue ensure that Troy is well represented.  Also, the School Board wants to thank you for your support on this year’s warrant articles.  All articles passed as recommended in the familiar ‘green sheet’, with the exception of the SAU Budget, which was not recommended.  This will help us to accomplish what we need to for the schools, staff, and students this year.

Preschool Registration will take place at Emerson School on Thursday, April 8th  from 5 – 7 PM and Friday, April 9th from 8 – 11 AM.
Children enrolling in the 3 year old class must be three by September 30th.  Children enrolling in the 4 year old class must be four by September 30th.  Birth certificates must be verified at this time.  Please bring a copy of your child’s immunization record.  Each child must have a physical by the start of school.
There are a limited number of places in Preschool.  If the number of children registered exceeds the number of spaces available a lottery will be held to place students in the class and on a waiting list.
Some tuition assistance is available from Head Start.  Information will be available at registration.  If you have any question please give Mrs. Poole a call at 585-6611.
