January 2012

Times are economically tough for numerous families around the country.  With the high unemployment rate and rising cost of commodities (milk, bread, eggs, etc.) it is very difficult for people to provide for their families.  Organizations like the Helping Hand Center in Troy are assisting people to lessen the burden of these financial constraints.  Helping Hand is foremost a food pantry. They also sell clothes and other donated items for about a dollar, which anyone in the may community purchase.  All of the proceeds are then used to buy food for families in need.  The number of families that need assistance are constantly growing.  With that said, it makes it very important for donations to come in.

Saturday January 21st 2012 at 2:30 pm, “SURELL,” The Dragon Palace Restaurant, Ed’s Crossroad Pizza & Sub and CJ the DJ are hosting a charity fashion show.  The show will be at The Dragon Palace; tickets are $5 or you can donate a non-perishable food item for entry.  There will be several models from local towns in the Monadnock area, some of whom have competed in the Miss Teen New Hampshire pageant.  Hair and makeup will be done by the Keene High School cosmetology department and professional hair dressers from Panache Hair Design.

There is also a Chinese New Year after party at The Dragon Palace. Tickets for that event are $5 or free entry when a non-perishable food item is donated.  This should be a great time for an even better cause!

If you cannot attend the event but still want to participate, you can drop non-perishable food to ED’s Crossroad Pizza & Sub, Surell Accessories factory outlet, and the Dragon Palace Restaurant.
