The Christmas story is a love story between mankind and God.  Many people have bad feelings about the Bible, probably because they have never read it or understood it.  A lot of people think it's a bunch of rules you can't follow or that God is some kind of cop up on a cloud ready to pounce on you if you do anything wrong.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  God did set rules for us to live by.  Some of them are even incorporated into our laws today.  However, the Bible is full of love and is the greatest love story ever given to mankind.  The most famous love statement from God remains written in the hearts of mankind— "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life"  Isn't this the kind of God that you want to know?  If so, I urge you to seek him today as the shepherds and wise men did during the Christmas season.

God loved the world and His son Jesus loved the poor, the downhearted, the lonely and the outcasts.  We should do the same.  The Helping Hand Center was established by all the churches within two towns to help friends within their communities who need our assistance.  Would you join us?  We need donations that people can give as gifts to their families.  Donations of fun things, new or absolutely perfect toys, warm items like hats, coats, mittens, new books - anything that someone can give a loved one at Christmas would be appreciated.  Our food pantry would like to  give out eggs and butter this month so people can bake special items for Christmas.

We would like to thank the Boy Scouts for their generous food drive which they do every year.  This year, the Helping Hand Center received 30 boxes of food.  Our thanks to each and every Boy Scout who spent time doing this worthy cause.  Our thanks go out to the Woodbrook Condominiums  in Fitzwilliam who annually donate new items for us to distribute at Christmas.  This year they  We also want to thank East Hill Farm for their continual donations of food and the time they spend organizing and delivering the containers of food to us.  We also appreciate the gifts given to us by the Swanzey Lions club.  The children who receive these gifts will be blessed by your efforts.  We also have generous contributors who give every year.  One man in particular comes in every year around the holidays with a generous check, a big smile and is faithful in his giving to us year after year.  However, even a small contribution is a big one in God's eyes.  When a poor widow gave a penny - she was written up in the Bible as one of the most generous "givers" of all time.

With this Christmas season upon us, remember to reach out to friends, family and even strangers in love and compassion.  God calls us to "love" unceasingly.  Isn't it nice to know that in your community, is a small simple building full of caring and compassionate volunteers who are reaching out in love and compassion to those in need?  We can't do it though without you.  Over the years, so many of you have reached out with your donations and support.      Everyone at Helping Hand wishes all of you a big thanks for all your help and wish you and your loved ones a blessed and fun Christmas season.  God says "Love one another.  As I have loved you, so you must love one another".
