When I initially viewed the picture postcard on e-bay I suspected the covered bridge itself was located in another town and only the sender was from Troy.   Nonetheless, I couldn’t turn away from Flora’s neatly inscribed, Troy, N.H., on top of the photo and her title, “Old Red Bridge,” so I decided to take a chance and won my bid.

Troy residents with current Recycling Center stickers may take advantage of access at  the Keene Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility July 11, 15, and 25.  The collection site will be open in August on the 8th, 12th, and the 22nd.  This is a chance to clean out toxic wastes that may have accumulated in your workshop, basement, garage or cupboards.  Products marked poison, toxic, flammable, corrosive, or otherwise hazardous may be disposed of at the Keene facility.  These materials may NOT be left at the Troy Recycling Center!

June 6th, Meadowood held their 2nd Annual Golf Tournament.  It was a great success and we have booked a date for next year.  We look forward to seeing everyone on June 5, 2010 at the 3rd Annual Golf Tournament.  Thank you to all that made the day fun and a success.

On Saturday, July 18 the Fitzwilliam Historical Society will hold its 34th Annual Antiques Show and Sale on the historic Fitzwilliam Town Common.  This wonderful event features antiques dealers from many states.  They have built up a strong following in this area and look forward to being here again this year.

The gang’s all here and just in time for berry picking!

An assembly of historians has formed a research group focusing on local history.  Tied to Troy and neighboring communities, these individuals are exploring the creation of settlements, Native Americans in this region, early land records, roads and much more.  This research journey will follow the path of the settlers who formed this early frontier all the way to the CT River.  We will discover more about their personal lives, their laws, culture, and perhaps their hopes and dreams as may have been recorded in early records and documents.
